Russia is a “country of summer residents.”
I have lived in this country for thirty-three years. Every weekend I see huge traffic jams forming on the way out of the city. These are people leaving for the country. And on Sunday they return.
I watch with interest how our parking lots outside our windows empty on weekends. If on weekdays there are 50 cars in the parking lot, then on weekends these cars can be counted on one hand.
Hi all! You are on the “My Old Computer” channel and today I bring to your attention a fictional story about a man who spent most of his life sitting at a computer and considers Russia “a country of summer residents.” This article is for entertainment purposes only and does not contain any intent to hurt anyone’s feelings. For “toxic haters” and inattentive readers, I remind you that the story is fictitious and does not relate to the author’s life. Moreover, the author has both a dacha and a village, where he constantly travels.

When I was at school, in the evenings I would walk in the yard with my friends. But on weekends, most of these friends went with their parents to the countryside or to the village. And some friends left me throughout the holidays. The computer remained my faithful friend.
I’ve lived in the city all my life. I have neither a dacha nor a village. And I always felt lonely on the weekends. Now nothing has changed — the metropolis empties every weekend. My friends grew up and bought themselves cars so that they could go to the countryside themselves. Only my faithful friend, the computer, saves me. Only a few times he had to update his “brains”.
A certain category of the population of this country lives here on a rotational basis. And we are not talking about oligarchs, we are talking about summer residents. In cities they only work, but live in their dachas and villages. Weekends, vacations, vacations — they immediately pack up and leave in the morning for their dacha.

Many summer residents are absolutely sure that people do not live in cities, but only work. Therefore, if a summer resident stays in the city over the weekend, he will definitely make repairs, make noise and disturb city residents as much as possible. It would never even occur to him that someone in the city could be on vacation. It seems to me that they do not know how to rest, and rest consists of constant physical activity.
All these summer residents do not live city life. They don’t know what the streets breathe. Local authorities from the districts are ordinary passers-by for them. Graffiti on the walls is just empty images for them. They don’t know anyone because they spend all their free time at their dachas.
Summer residents cannot relax in the city. At the first convenient opportunity they leave. They are not stopped by physical labor, instead of a day off, and even blood-sucking insects are not a hindrance to them. I can’t imagine what they do at their dachas, but they arrive burnt and covered in mosquito bites.

I have no idea how you can relax in the country. Creeping insects swarm under your feet, mosquitoes hang in the air, and there is nowhere to hide from the scorching sun. In the city, I can lie in the bath while drinking some fruit cocktail. I can sit on the sofa with a big bag of chips and watch my huge TV. I can spend time with my faithful friend — the computer. I can listen to my expensive audio system, order food at home and still invite friends over. But only city friends — everyone else is at the dacha.
How can you not love your city so that every weekend in the morning you can pack your things and go to the dacha. From the outside it looks like an unsuccessful escape with the constant return of the “prodigal son”. A sleep-deprived family leaves the city early in the morning to disappear from city life for the whole weekend. And on Sunday they return only for the simple reason that they have to go to work and study on Monday.
They don’t want to live in the city. But outside the city there are no jobs or decent education, and a dacha garden will not feed a family. The city is not their conscious choice. For summer residents, the city is just a place where you can work and study. And their whole life happens in their dachas.

Nowadays children spend more time in the city, but don’t want to go to the countryside. Their faithful friend is still the same computer, but now they have a chance to spend time with their friends outside, because they won’t go to the country for the weekend. I don’t want them to suffer the same fate as me. I had to sit at the computer instead of walking down the street with my friends.
This position has never been clear to me. I can’t even imagine what you can do at the dacha. I buy vegetables and herbs at the market, and go to the forest for barbecue. If you need to “get some fresh air,” you can take a walk in the city park.
